Our Story

Crafted by nature, refined by hand.

Pioneer Valley Design Co. is a woodworking studio in Western Massachusetts, founded by Tony and Megan Lopes. We create serving boards, statement pieces, and furniture that preserve the natural character of remarkable wood.

The idea began with a simple obsession: finding wood that makes you stop and look twice. Curly figure, deep color, unusual grain, live edges, spalting, knots, and voids are not details we try to manufacture or hide. They are where the design begins.

Each piece is made in small numbers—often only once. Tony handles the woodworking and allows the shape and character of the material to guide the build. Meg helps bring the finished work to life through engraving, presentation, and the details that make it ready to enter someone’s home.

We believe the objects people live with every day can still feel exceptional. A serving board can become part of every gathering. A dining table can become the place a family gathers for decades. A live-edge console can preserve the character of a tree in a form meant to live in the home. The goal is thoughtful craftsmanship that lets exceptional wood remain exceptional.
